hard part

I am not very good at giving myself a grade, that is your job. HA HA. I really think I deserve an A because I really tried to keep up on the readings and videos and be a contributing factor in the conversations about them, and have done quite a bit of work on the final project. That's all I have to say.
So the grade I am putting up is for the final project only.  I don't think my idea for my grade has changed any.  I put out quite a bit of effort, and am still putting out effort, to get the project done correctly.

more work

We are going to get the last bit of video today.  Bryce said he has brought a prop to school so that should be good.  I will take that video home to throw in with the rest of the vids, i still need to cut some of the video down to shorten it up a bit.  I think he was gonna throw the sound files in also.

wsuz

i dont know about you guys, but i like the idea of not really showing any "zombies".  i think a good 'atmosphere' for a story can be had implicitly.  make the gamer use their imagination, we can set a creepy mood with sound and hopefully the people doing this will be out there around dusk.  that alone can freak some people out.
also, the story can go either way with me.  either the guy talking is crazy and in the end sets up a trap for the gamer, or he really needed their help to locate the 'prize' at the end of the game.  no matter which he should sound off of his rocker.

gps game blog

It seemed to me like the gps games that were shown used a lot of the same technology so that the games seemed to be the same.  The objectives of the games were pretty much the same, with different stories.  It will be cool when the technology moves forward so newer style games can be played with gps.
After having discussed these games in class I can now see the little nuances in each one to make them different.  They are still bound to hunt, find, search type of platform though.

gps game

My idea for a gps game would involve trying to solve a murder/mystery, kind of like clue but in the real world. Clues would be hidden around a city and you would have to find one clue before the next could be found. In certain hot spots a video would play of events that happened during this crime. The cool part would be that some of the video would be of people following you, you can see yourself being followed as you walk through the city. Kinda creepy. As the game goes on the people following you get closer and closer until either they catch up to you and the game is over, or you find the final clue and solve the mystery.

narrative walk #2... Stonehenge

In ancient times, hundreds of years before the dawn of history lived a race of people nobody was sure about. They were very strange, and lived mostly without human contact. This is where they lived, Amesbury, England.
They were called the Druids.
It is said they lived together with a race only known as the banshees, who may or may not have come from this world. They co-existed next to one another, and the banshees did live well. It is unclear what happened to the banshees, but many believe they got bored with the druids and moved to Egypt where they built the great pyramid.

One day a year the pipes of pan make a return to the city where there is a big festival. Many come out for the event put on by the local 'Stonecutters'.
On a brisk night many years ago a young Saint Hubbins, the patron saint of quality footwear, was said to have seen the moon 'doth rise with a dragon's face'. To this day many people still will stay out all night wanting to see this.
Dew drops were very magical to the druids, they would come out in this field west of town early in the mornings to collect as much as they could. Dew drops were used to ward off evil and to help in healing.
On that one day a year the little children of Stonehenge will follow the pipes of pan from the town out to the monument and dance until the sun comes up the next day.

Video Responses

First off, I was under a little hinderance at first because I was using the computers at school and had no sound from the videos.  After I watched them though, I wondered if it wasn't a hinderance at all.  Instead of maybe putting some of my focus onto what I was hearing, I could put all of my effort into seeing what was being shown.  I especially enjoyed the blandlands videos.  Not many people take video of things that most of us don't care about, typical things we see everyday.  Watching the amish tear the roofing off of a building, in a way, became fascinating.  Without the sound it was even more so.

longview drift

So I attempted to follow the flow of traffic with my drift. If the first car by went to the right, I would turn
right, or left or..... This worked okay, although because of lack of traffic I was reduced to the eanie meanie
miney mo thing a few times.
My drift walk of Longview started out at this big wooden squirrel.  It's pretty awesome, Longview has a lot of squirrels, but this is the only one made out of wood.
This is where I went to community college.  Also, when I was in high school we would skip class and go to the small building on the left and buy food, at the time it was a food shack.  My high school is right next door to the college.
My walk took me to 14th avenue where I caught the smell from this chinese food restaurant. Needless to say I was VERY hungover and the smell did not agree with me very well.  I think I am done drinking rum and coke.
I have spent a lot of money at this business.  This is where I get my tattoos done.
The second tree from the right and I have some history.  I was with one of my friends a long time ago and we totaled his car into that tree.  We both came out with only scrapes and bruises but the car was destroyed, as you can see the tree won that fight.
This is a picture of our squirrel bridge.  Like I said we have a lot of squirrels and they were getting hit by cars in the 1960's so the city built this little bridge for them.  I heard one time that it was in the Guinness Book of World Records for the smallest suspension bridge that gets used, I'm not sure if that is true or not.
